Construction of the new specialised indoor Exercise and Sports Science Building as Deakin University’s Burwood Campus is in a visually prominent location of the Campus and is the first building to greet visitors from the east entry at Burwood Highway. Accordingly, the building has been designed to provide a dynamic view on entering the campus with the large façade cantilevered entry point incorporating recessed extrusion lighting to highlight angles.
The fur level building provides state of the art sport science learning facilities for the student including a dedicated Clinical Learning Centre and consulting rooms; specialist facilities and equipment for Biomechanics, Motor Learning, and strength & conditioning; a climate chamber that can simulate extreme temperatures, humidity and altitude; cardio area and open group fitness area; indoor running lanes, and open plan workspaces for staff and research students. The Sports and Science Building was constructed whist keeping the remaining campus operational.
